MENTAL HEATH FIRST AID CHAMPIONS (MHFA) - CERTIFICATION

This one day course qualifies participants as Mental Health Champions and has a workplace focus. It is very suitable for managers or anyone who represents their area. It concentrates on depression and anxiety and also references a few other conditions. Participants learn to:

‒  Recognise the main signs and symptoms of common mental health issues, whilst understanding that we are all on the mental health continuum

‒  Provide initial support using the tool ‘ALGEE’ (including suicide crisis) and will apply it to workplace case studies

‒  Guide a person towards appropriate professional help

‒  Be mindful of their own wellbeing by exploring their ‘stress container’

‒  Develop an understanding of how you can create and maintain a healthier workforce - the HSE six sources of workplace stress and NICE guidelines are referenced

Participants receive a manual, workbook, and e-certificate.

Emma is passionate about raising mental health awareness in both the workplace and the community and her professional, personal and volunteering experience gives her an invaluable insight into the challenges individuals and workplaces face.

Her 25 years in diverse business settings including stations, call centre, depot, head office has enabled her to understand there’s no one-size fits all. Her approach is to empower individuals and teams to take small consistent steps and find their own practical solutions beyond the training event.
