This one day course qualifies participants as Mental Health Champions and has a workplace focus. MHFA certification is suitable for everyone in the workplace. It may be of particular interest to line managers, mentors and department heads, but can provide a useful skill set to help people spot the signs of mental distress amongst their colleagues at all levels of the organisation.
It concentrates on depression and anxiety and also references a few other conditions.
Participants learn to:
‒ Recognise the main signs and symptoms of common mental health issues, whilst understanding that we are all on the mental health continuum
‒ Provide initial support using the tool ‘ALGEE’ (including suicide crisis) and will apply it to workplace case studies
‒ Guide a person towards appropriate professional help
‒ Be mindful of their own wellbeing by exploring their ‘stress container’
‒ Develop an understanding of how you can create and maintain a healthier workforce - the HSE six sources of workplace stress and NICE guidelines are referenced
Participants receive a manual, workbook, and e-certificate.
