Introducing New MAA Chairman Ian Millner
First of all, I'd like to say how honored I am to have been elected Chairman of the MAA. Whilst we are still shaking off the after effects of the global recession, we're also in the midst of figuring out the shape, scope and potential in the marketing landscape tomorrow. Given the choices and challenges that most modern and progressive clients now have, there has never been a greater need for the MAA and it's member agencies.
I for one don't see ourselves as just another trade body. I think that the MAA is different. I think we are more like a co-operative of agencies; run in the best interest of the agency community by the agency community. For me this means that the MAA is all about collaboration, activism, equality and opportunity and I want to ensure that agencies continue to enjoy a strong sense of support, challenge and stimulation. Over the next two years I want to reinforce the MAA as being the essential ingredient in agency life.
To be this, we must continue to represent the weird and the wonderful dynamic of our industry. We must remember that we are not governed by any particular discipline we are a platform for open creativity something that has never been so relevant and valued. We represent some of the most important and innovative agencies in Britain but in addition we want to be the inspiring and enabling influence for the next generation of agency and talent. Being able to bring together the new, innovative and established across and incredible array of discipline and media is what makes us vital.
The next two years will be about bringing this platform of open creativity to life, creativity that is bright, effective, multi-discipline and modern. We have bundles of ideas of how to do this and they are ideas that will not only benefit you as agencies, but will benefit the industry as a whole.
So that's enough from me now what are we going to do about it?
Ian Millner, Chairman MAA
