Meet the MAA Team

Rebecca teamshot

Rebecca Crook

Managing Director


Rebecca joined the MAA in October 2017 as Managing Director to strategically grow the MAA’s membership offering and raise the profile of the organisation. Rebecca has responsibility for the day-to-day management of the MAA and works closely with the MAA Board and member agencies. 

Rebecca brings almost twenty years of agency experience to the role having most recently worked at The BIO Agency as Chief Marketing Officer, sitting on the Board with responsibility for new business, marketing, PR and the learning and development programme. Rebecca helped the agency grow from 45 people to 120+ people in a 3-year period and formed part of the team selling the agency for £45million in 2016. Prior to this she has worked in senior roles at a number of agencies from ehsbrann, Rapier and Tangible giving her first-hand experience of the challenges facing agencies.

Outside of work Rebecca sits on The National Trust Strategic Board for London & the South East and is a Director of Saltdean Lido in Brighton having raised over £3million to restore the Grade II* listed swimming pool. Previously she has also volunteered as a Prince’s Trust Business Mentor for six years working with young people to help them develop their business plans. When not working or volunteering she enjoys exploring new places with her two dogs.


Avalyn Kasahara

Director of Learning and Development


Avalyn joined the MAA in October 2017 as Director of Learning and Development as part of the new team and is responsible for developing new and innovative programmes for the MAA members and beyond. Avalyn oversees all of the organisation’s output around learning, training and development. She is the first port of call for any issues relating to L&D.

Avalyn is an experienced specialist Learning & Development professional with experience both brand side in businesses such as Marks & Spencer and in marketing agencies. She has a passion for employee growth, development and wellbeing and the impact it has on business success. Avalyn has built internal international L&D programmes from the ground up, improving both employee satisfaction and retention and regularly speaks at events and conferences on the role of employee experience in both business success and customer satisfaction. 

Avalyn has a passion for ground breaking learning interventions, and uses neuroscience, behaviour science and modern L&D methodologies to create inspiring programmes driven by employee needs.

Sam team

Sam Parsley

Awards Director


Sam joined the MAA team in October 2017, to oversee and delivery a fresh perspective on the MAA #DoDifferent Awards. The awards celebrate the work of agencies that have taken clients into new, unexplored territory and made a positive impact and will, for the first time, under Sam’s direction, involve some of the biggest brands in the UK as judges. 

Sam has spent almost her entire marketing career agency side; gaining over 12 years Business Development and Marketing experience in the direct, digital and integrated marketing industry for the likes of Rapier, CMW, WDMP and TBCH.  Helping businesses realise and achieve their potential.

Ian checkered

Ian Darby

Head of Content


Ian joined the MAA in October 2013 to help drive its content strategy with media partners including The Guardian. In addition, he also offers writing and editing services to agencies, media owners and other companies within the marketing and advertising world.

Prior to this he worked for 13 years in various senior roles at Haymarket's Campaign, the trade title for the advertising industry. He was most recently the deputy editor of Campaign, taking responsibility for magazine content in addition to producing online news and working on special projects such as Campaign's Top 100 reports. Early in his time at Campaign, Ian specialised in covering the direct marketing sector before moving to the role of media editor, which he held for eight years, building relationships with media agencies and media owners.

Ian also worked at sister marketing press titles Marketing Direct, PR Week and Marketing as a news reporter and features writer. He also spent time at the Government's Central Office of Information, working as an editor in its publications and new media department. Ian's clients at the COI included the DTI and the Home Office.

Tracey Ann Christian

Tracey-Ann Christian

Head of Operations     


Tracey is currently on Maternity Leave, however please contact any other member of the team for support.

Tracey-Ann joined the MAA in 2009 and is the first port of call for members’ enquiries to troubleshoot general questions about MAA member services. She oversees the member agency showcase on the website and is responsible for membership communications on events, training and the MAA networking groups as well as general information.

Tracey-Ann oversees the MAA’s fortnightly column in the Guardian and troubleshoots any queries agencies have throughout the process.

She also organizes the MAA’s events such as the annual Marketing Industry Triathlon, the Marketing for Startup Britain event and member dinners and networking events.

Tracey-Ann has worked at various agencies during her career including PHD, MPG, and VCCP as well as 14 year’s at Arc Worldwide.

Emma Hook

Training & Operations Executive       


Emma joined the MAA in 2015.

She co-ordinates all external and internal training courses, ensuring a seamless delivery on Bespoke, A Morning On…, Excellence, the Future Leaders Academy and Diploma.
